Overview: Davao’s gateway to Bukidnon

The Davao-Bukidnon road connects Davao City and adjacent areas to Bukidnon province, and Overview is its gateway. This road shortens the time it took for Davao City travelers to reach Cagayan de Oro City and other areas of northern Mindanao by nearly ten hours. It also allow transport of agricultural products that Bukidnon province produces to Davao provinces. In the same manner, this road permits industrial goods to reach Bukidnon.

The Davao-Bukidnon road was once a logging road. It cuts into the heart of Buda and other mountain barangay of Davao City. When large-scale commercial logging was disallowed in early 1990′s, this road was abandoned until the Ramos administration started to rehabilitate it.

Any traveler who took this road is familiar with Overview. Although travelers who took public transport may not be able to stop and see the surrounding view, a short stop is always rewarded. Overview as a name implies, allow travelers to grasp the expanse of Bukidnon province. Within the perimeter and along the pathways are life-size statues made by renowned artist Kublai Milan. Ornamental plants are also grown giving more colors to the green view of the land.

Stopping in the morning is the recommended time. It is during this period that Bukidnon is still or partly covered by morning fog. Since the sunlight this time is not yet very strong travelers can move down the pathway with ease. The cold breeze will rejuvenate traveler’s tired body.
